NOTICE ON DIETARY SUPPLEMENT PRODUCTS
In the April 22, 1996 Federal Register, FDA published a notice regarding
the inapplicability of the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994
(the DSHEA) to products intended for use in animals. The notice states that
after examining the statutory language, intent, and legislative history, the
Agency has determined that DSHEA does not apply to animal products. Further
information on this notice may be obtained from Donny Dean, Center for Veterinary
Medicine (HFV-236), FDA, 7500 Standish Place, Rockville, MD 20855. Written comments
on this notice may be submitted by July 22, 1996 to the Dockets Management Branch
(HFA-305), Food and Drug Administration, 12420 Parklawn Drive, Room 1-23, Rockville,
MD 20857.
